Do Christians automatically know how to share the Gospel?

Talking

Talking

According to Ephesians 4:11-12 evangelists are to equip the saints for service for the building up of the body of Christ. Apparently Christians do need some training in this area.

A Christian can tell someone what happened, or what convinced them to follow Christ. That might be helpful, but did they share the Gospel?

The Gospel message is not just a message of love. There is bad news. That is the part that people don’t want to talk about. The bad news is sin, and it’s punishment (death in Hell). The good news of Christ taking your place and mine by his death and resurrection is the part that Christians generally talk about the most.

When you share your story of how you trusted Christ to save you from your sins, be sure to talk about sin and it’s punishment that you deserved. Be sure to talk about Christ’s death and resurrection; how He saved you from sin.

The focus is on Christ, who He is, and what He did.

The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe. It’s main purpose is salvation. Once someone trusts Christ, He will cause that person’s life to change. They will repent, and turn from sin to follow Christ instead of sin.
